Admission Requirements for International Students

School systems around the globe vary widely from country to country. It is therefore necessary to check whether you may study in Germany with the certificates that you currently hold. The Department of International Affairs can assist you in understanding the admission requirements you must meet.

Pre-study Internship or Apprenticeship

2

Before taking up on your studies, you have to do a pre-study internship in a related field. This can be in any organization or company which operates in disaster control, fire safety, rescue service or similar areas. The internship must last at least 12 weeks, of which 8 weeks can also be taken in mechanical engineering, when required. The internship has to be finished by the start of the program; only in justified cases it can be postponed until the beginning of the third term.

Pertinent apprenticeships can be credited in a defined extent, for which exact information is given in the fact sheet linked down below.

It’s generally possible to absolve the internship or a relevant apprenticeship in a foreign country, but please make sure to get in contact with the leader of the bachelor’s program previously in order to ensure that the particular activity meets the requirements. Also note that any documents (reports, internship references, etc.) have to be submitted in German.

For further information (in German language) please have a look at the fact sheet.
